GoTime 2.0 is here: the biggest update yet

A new gauge for every hour, Pause is back, and one list for everyone who rides along. Every drive and every hour you already logged comes with you.

GoTime started as a simple way for our own families to log supervised driving hours. Since then many of you wrote to tell us what to fix and what to add. GoTime 2.0 is the answer to a lot of those emails.

Every screen was redrawn. The parts you use on every drive got faster and clearer. And three things changed enough that they deserve a closer look.

What is new

All your hours in one gauge

The Practice tab now shows total hours, hours at night and what is left, together in one gauge. You can see at a glance which requirement is still short. A driver can pass the total and still owe night hours, so GoTime only celebrates when every part of the requirement is met.

Some states ask for hours in two steps. Michigan, Iowa and Washington, DC are examples. In those states the gauge shows which step the log is on, and GoTime marks the moment step 1 is done.

Pause is back

Stopped for gas or stuck in the pickup line? Tap Pause, and that time stays off the drive. Tap Resume when you are moving again. The clock on screen shows only the time that counts.

GoTime also notices when the car stops moving. It tells you, in one line under the buttons, and it never pauses on its own. If you tap Pause a few minutes late, GoTime offers to pause from the moment the car actually stopped. You decide.

Everyone who rides along, in one list

Mom, Dad, Grandma, a driving instructor. Every driver now has one list of the people who supervise. Pick who is in the passenger seat when you log a drive, and that name goes on the DMV log.

Fix a typo in a name once, and it is fixed on every drive that person supervised. Invite anyone who is not on GoTime yet with a code. One code can cover one driver or every driver in the family, and it never expires.

A whole new look

Every screen in GoTime was redrawn for 2.0. The Practice tab, the drive screen, the history and the settings all share one clean design now. You can pick light or dark in Settings, or let GoTime follow your phone.

What happens when you open it

The first time you open 2.0, a short setup asks a few questions about the rules in your state. Your answers make the goal more precise. Parents are also asked who they are to the driver.

It takes about a minute. If your goal changes, GoTime shows you the old number and the new one. Nothing in your log moves. Every drive and every hour stays exactly as you logged it.
